Bright Eyes

It is amazing to watch how fast children grow. It is fun to have an infant around the house. It doesn't matter how bad your day has been when those little eyes light up and a smile spreads across their face just because you walked in to the room your whole day seems to melt away. Cody, my son is 6 1/2 months and a joy to have in our family. Hallie Jo loves her brother to death and know how to make him giggle. Here is a picture of the four of us. This picture was taken at Cascade Springs in Utah. It was the beginning of October when all of the colors were in full bloom.

Cancer

I don't think that I could have ever been prepared for the trials that beset my family this past year. Last November my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was the first person I knew personally to be diagnosed with any type of cancer. I was not prepared for the trials that lay ahead for my mother. I was not prepared to stand by and watch her go through the horrible treatments to beat this cancer. She spent the next four months going through chemo. I never dreamed that something that is supposed to make you feel better could make you feel so crummy. I felt completely helpless as I watched her get so sick and then start to feel better only to get sick again. My heart goes out to all those out there who have suffered through chemo treatments. As my mother was finishing up her treatments we got news that my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer (a type of ovarian cancer). Her tumors where in the lining of her body cavity so when she had them removed she was cut open down the center of her body. As I went to visit her in the hospital I was overwhelmed at how much pain she was in and she still has some more chemo treatments to undergo. I will always remember cancer victims in my prayers each night as I have watched two people who are very close to me suffer through this horrible disease. I thank my Father in Heaven for my own clean bill of health.

Birthday

Yesterday was my daughter's 4th birthday. What a fun birthday. I have never seen her so excited and grateful. She did not get to open her presents until the end of the day so the excitement grew throughout the day. This is the first year that she has really understood a birthday. How fun it was. She always has brownies for her birthday instead of cake because she loves brownies. She takes after her mom that way, we are a couple of chocolate lovers. When she woke up in the morning she asked me why she wasn't any bigger. She thought that because she was going to be older she would grow overnight. I hope that each birthday will be just as exciting for her as this one because birthdays are special days.
